Talking with my Mouth Full

Every year I make a slew of New Years Resolutions, one of which is always "read a book a month". Most years I end up reading half the books over summer vacations but meet the overall goal of twelve within the year so it counts, right?!?! For the last two years, I have failed miserably at this resolution. When I have a few minutes at the end of the day, I'm exhausted and just want to watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory that I've already watched 10 times.

I'm happy to share that I just finished Talking with My Mouth Full by Gail Simmons. Sadly, this is only the second book this year - I have a lot of reading to do in the next 4 months! I love the show Top Chef where Gail is a judge and have ways wondered who is this lady and what gives her the right to critique these people and their food. The answer is in her book and she has an amazing career in the culinary industry. Early on in the book, Gail shares that while trying to determine her professional direction a family friend told her to write down what she loves. Eat, write, travel, cook - and that was the start of it all.

I'm feeling very inspired post reading this! My sister and I have dreams that we'll start an events business where she runs the event logistics and I run the business side.  I think we need to get back to this plan.......
